Musician
I started learning guitar at the age of 14, and soon after, the harmonica followed. Then came the ukulele. Today, I often jam with local blues and rock bands in Montana.
Schon mit 14 Jahren lernte ich Gitarre spielen, wenig später kam die Mundharmonika dazu. Später folgte die Ukulele. Heute „jamme“ ich oft in Montana mit den lokalen Blues & Rock Bands.
Flangia Kaiphos
At the age of 17, my rock and blues band Flangia Kaiphos was named the second-best student band in Germany in a nationwide competition organized by the newspaper BILD. Since then, music has remained a constant part of my life.
The band members were: Ulrich Groth (vocals), Peter Enge (bass), Heinz Lange (drums), Klaus (Nick) Wilder (vocals, guitar, harmonica), and Wolf-Dieter Hübner “Hübie” (lead guitar).
Jam Sessions
I love spontaneous jam sessions — especially when I can jump in with my harmonica. One of my most memorable moments was on the SAT.1 morning show “Volle Kanne” with Ingo Mommsen. In Montana, I often play with different bands and hop on stage at a moment’s notice — I always have my harmonicas with me.
There were also countless unforgettable evenings on the Traumschiff, playing together with the onboard musicians.
For me, music has never been just background noise — it has always been the soundtrack of my life.
Film Music
I sing and play harmonica on the title song “Out of My Mind” for the crime thriller Jammertal. Together with the production team, I developed this song specifically for the film: it was meant to capture the atmosphere of the story — tension, the feeling of escape and pursuit, but also the sense of being trapped in a mysterious setting.
For Jammertal, a film in the Rhein-Lahn crime series that deals with a mysterious plane crash and Chief Inspector Tuchowski’s investigation in the forest region of Katzenelnbogen, I provided the musical opening.
Concerts
For the special edition of “Bühne frei – live dabei,” I performed a live concert from the Sternensaal in the city park. Together with Markus Baltensperger, I appeared in honor of the Supermoon Night. We presented cover songs and original compositions that revolved around themes of the moon, the stars, and traveling.
The concert was streamed live and offered a truly unique musical experience under the glow of the Supermoon.
Low German Song
In addition to singing, guitar, and ukulele, I still passionately play the harmonica — an instrument that, for me, embodies freedom, emotion, and spontaneity. During the COVID period, I produced the song “These Boys Must Be Free op Platt” together with my friend Yared Dibaba, which was released on Spotify. In this piece, I combine my love for music and the harmonica with the Low German language and the idea of unity and hope during a difficult time. The harmonica gives the song its special, warm character and reflects the sense of freedom we wanted to express through this music.
Live Theater
In my role as the criminal Emery Forster in WINNETOU 2, I perform a harmonica solo in one scene to the mega-hit “Thunderstruck,” originally by the legendary band AC/DC.
