The novel by Nick Wilder and Richard Opper is already making waves — even before its publication — because its story unfolds against a world that feels increasingly unstable.
Rising antisemitism, growing polarization, and the dangerous resurgence of hatred are shaking societies across the globe.
Father Love dives straight into this reality.
It confronts the fractures of our time with a story that is both deeply personal and painfully universal — a novel that doesn’t just entertain, but forces us to look at the wounds that history and humanity continue to carry.
Father Love is not merely timely —
it is urgent.

Novel „Father Love"

Father Love delves into the explosive, deeply emotional bond between a son and his father — a man whose Nazi past casts a long and dangerous shadow. Haunted by unanswered questions, Alex becomes an undercover operative, infiltrating neo-Nazi organizations across three continents. Every new identity, every mission, pulls him further into a world of violence, fanaticism, and betrayal. But the deadliest threat does not come from extremist networks — it comes from within his own family. Old secrets resurface. Old wounds reopen. And the truth he uncovers is far more devastating than anything he encountered in the field. Father Love is a gripping cautionary tale about the destructive power of silence, the cost of unresolved family trauma, and the desperate human need for a father’s love — even when it may already be too late. The novel will be released in German on January 15, 2026, and was presented on November 10, 2025 — intentionally one day after the memorial event for the victims of Kristallnacht at the former Jewish cemetery on Fehmarn. The date was chosen deliberately: it connects remembrance of the past with the book’s message about responsibility and reconciliation. Starting January 15, 2026, all orders placed through the website will begin shipping. The novel will also be available in all bookstores. The original English version will be released later in 2026.

Roman „Vaterliebe"

Father Love Reviews

With Father Love, Nick Wilder and his co-author Richard have created a “commentary” born perhaps out of a premonition — one that strikingly captures the spirit of our times. Fortunately, it is neither preachy nor off-putting in any way, but instead highly creative and full of variety. Father Love is therefore recommended to all those whom we hope will recognize the writing on the wall.

Nick Wilder sent me the manuscript of his book Father Love. I had the opportunity to take part as a test reader. As an Israeli who was born and raised in Germany, the story touched me deeply.

So — kol hakavod, as we say here in Israel when offering praise.

Wow — what a book! It kept me on the edge of my seat from the very first to the very last page, taking unexpected twists and prompting deep reflection, especially in today’s cultural climate. This book stirred up a whole potpourri of emotions in me, and I was so captivated by the story that I simply couldn’t put it down.

Biography "Life is wilder than you think"

From farmer’s son to Hollywood actor — from a small village in northern Germany all the way to California: Nick Wilder tells the extraordinary story of a man who has reinvented himself again and again without ever losing his integrity. He grows up on a farm on the Baltic Sea island of Fehmarn, studies wood technology, becomes a world champion surfer, opens surf shops in Denmark and Florida, and eventually discovers his true passion: acting. He appears in Roland Emmerich’s Stargate, becomes “Mr. Kaiser,” one of the most recognizable advertising figures in Germany, spends ten years as Doc Sander on the Traumschiff, and plays roles across Europe and the United States. But behind the spotlight lies another journey — Wilder’s search for meaning, freedom, and reconciliation with his own past. Confronting his father’s Nazi history becomes a lifelong inner voyage: from the unspoken pain of the postwar generation to the realization that real healing begins only when we dare to understand. With humor, depth, and disarming honesty, Wilder shows what it means to remain true to yourself when life gets wild — and why happiness often appears the moment you stop trying to control it. An inspiring, moving, and often hilarious book about courage, freedom, and the art of embracing life… in all its wildness.

Biography Reviews

Even though, at just under 40, I’m a bit younger than the typical Traumschiff audience, this book was incredibly entertaining and an absolute pleasure to read. A wonderfully multifaceted book that makes you root along, reflect, think deeper — and laugh.

I’ve now read the book “Das Leben ist wilder als du denkst” for the second time. It captivated me just as much as it did the first time. It’s written so entertainingly that you don’t want to put it down. Some chapters make you reflect, others make you smile — or even laugh.

What an engaging, entertaining, and genuinely worthwhile book — simply recommendable! You’re torn between wanting to read it as quickly as possible or taking your time so the journey with Nick doesn’t end too soon. And in the end, you find yourself wishing for a sequel to this fascinating life story told by such a charming narrator.

Rhein-Lahn Crime Story: Jammertal (2017)

In the plot, a light aircraft crashes over the forest near Katzenelnbogen, but the pilot is nowhere to be found. I play the lead investigator (chief inspector) who carries the case and through whose perspective the story unfolds. My character is central to solving the crimes and forms the core of the thriller.

Readings

My “readings” are really two hours of pure entertainment — stories, surprises, laughter, and the occasional musical detour. I share selected passages from my biography “Life Is Wilder Than You Think”, tell personal tales that never made it into the book, and every now and then I grab my guitar and harmonica to play a few cool tunes. (I promise: no one has ever asked for a refund because of the music.) And then there is that moment — the one I love most. When I talk about my father and the long, painful journey to finally understand him and make peace with him. That’s when the room goes absolutely silent. You can feel it — people leaning in, breathing quieter — because nearly everyone carries their own story about family, forgiveness, and the courage it takes to look back. I talk about a life that has been — and still is — wilder than most would expect: about a boy from Fehmarn (Germany) who set out to explore the world and somehow ended up on stages, film sets, mountain tops, surfboards… and occasionally even in the right place at the right time.
